I am featured on WITM's Instagram and LinkedIn page for their Leadership Limelight! For the hackathon, we made a website that searches for sustainable options and a chrome extension that indicates the sustainability of your online purchases!

Hackathon Story

It's my pleasure to share with you my leadership story during the hackathon. I hope this inspires you!

I was ready to take on WITM's 24-hour hackathon challenge. I never designed a prototype before or had any knowledge of business pitching, but I was so excited for the hacking to begin.  I never met my teammates prior to the event either, but I was certain that with my leadership, my team was in good hands. This is my story of how I successfully worked under pressure with a brand-new team during WITM's WeDesignTech hackathon.

At the beginning of the hackathon, I was fully focused on brainstorming to solve the problem statement. We had to create a sustainable technology practice that anyone can follow in their lives, and my team shared great ideas. As the hackathon was fully online, we came across difficulties with communication, but we tried our best to understand each other's thoughts. After we had made a solid plan together, I told my team members that if they had any extra ideas for the prototype, they should do it and not doubt themselves. Above all, I made a genuine effort to support and encourage my team during the hackathon. Although we had a massive goal to accomplish, I kept in my mind that my teammates were human. I understood that they had commitments and aspirations of their own and was grateful for all their hard work.

At the hackathon's presentation stage, I confidently represented my team in front of industry professionals from companies such as IBM, Shopify and HP. The aim of our project was to encourage people to support sustainable businesses when shopping online. I am so proud of what we accomplished together. I am proud that we pulled through all the difficulties and reached the end together.
